Hopi and Navajo Traditional Elders need you to party with us!
Saturday, April 8th, at 7 p.m. Rico Gallery will be hosting
an evening of
live poetry and music, art and information to encourage support
in bringing
traditional Hopi and Navajo Elders to Los Angeles for Earth Day
2000. The
Dine' (Navajo) are being forcibly relocated off their homelands
for coal
strip mining, onto the site of the worst nuclear spill in U.S.
History.
Their plight will be a main Earth Day LA event focus. Find out
how you can
stop the U.S. Government and energy corporations and support Native
American
People in preserving their religious heritage. Join us at the
Rico Gallery,
208 Main Street in Santa Monica for an art auction of work by
Cher Lyn and a
display of Hopi and Navajo gourds, jewelry and rugs. $7 donation
at the
door. For more information and volunteer opportunities call (310)
